Online tutoring in the Philippines: the same tutor without the commute
Online tutoring in the Philippines puts one tutor with one learner, live over video, on the DepEd curriculum the learner is studying this year, from Kinder to Grade 12 and college entrance review, with the same tutor every week
Online is home tutoring with the travel taken out: the same tutor, the same plan and the same hour. In this country the commute is often the hardest part of the week to fit, and online hands that time back to the lesson. A learner can start online and move to in-person later, or the other way round, and keep the same tutor throughout.
What online tutoring means here
A live lesson between one teacher and one learner, happening in real time
The learner and one tutor meet over video at an agreed time and work through the subject together: the tutor sees the work, asks questions and corrects mistakes as they happen. Both sides talk, the way a good lesson at a table sounds. The tutor is the same person who would have knocked at the door, and the plan is the same plan; only the room changes.
Live, and two-way
The learner talks, works and gets corrected in real time. When they go quiet, the tutor notices, which is something a recorded lesson can never do.
One learner, one tutor
The hour belongs to the learner. Nothing is paced for a room of thirty, and nothing is skipped because most of a class already understood it.
Distance stops mattering
A tutor in Metro Manila can teach a learner in a provincial town the same afternoon. Online puts the right tutor in reach of every province, whatever the distance.
Whoever should see it, can
Sessions happen at home, on your own screen. The parent of a younger learner can look in from overseas as easily as from the next room.
Why learners here choose online
The reasons are practical, and most of them come from daily life in the Philippines itself
✕Problems
The best tutor lives in another city
The tutor who knows the subject at the learner’s exact level may live in Quezon City while the learner studies in Iloilo. Online lessons bring that tutor to the table every week, so distance never decides what anyone can study.
The commute eats the evening
An hour of tutoring can cost three hours once traffic is counted, for the tutor as much as for the learner, and those hours come straight out of homework, work and rest.
Classes get suspended
Typhoons, flooding and heat suspensions interrupt the school year every year. Learning does not have to stop because the trip does.
The one paying is overseas
When the person who arranged or pays for the lessons works in another country, an in-person session is something they only hear about afterwards.

The tutor comes to the screen
We match on subject, level and schedule, so the right tutor stays within reach wherever they happen to live.
The hour is the whole hour
No travel for either side, which makes short, frequent sessions easy to keep up week after week.
It keeps running when school does not
A suspended class day can still be a study day: the session goes ahead whenever the power and the connection are up.
Anyone who should be there, can be
A relative abroad who pays for the lessons can join the same call, and so can a parent in the next room during a younger learner’s first sessions.
How it works
Four steps, and you can stop after any of them
Share the subject and the goal
Subject, grade level or target, the days and times that work, and anything about how the learner studies best that a tutor should know before the first session.
We match a tutor
A person on our team reads the request, picks a tutor who has taught that subject at that level, and checks they are free when the learner is. Every match is chosen by hand.
You see the rate, then decide
We come back with the tutor and the hourly rate for that placement. Nothing is booked until you have both, and saying no costs nothing.
Sessions start
The learner meets the tutor on video, the plan is agreed, and lessons begin. Whenever a different tutor would suit better, we match again, free of charge.

What a session actually involves
Plainly, so you can tell whether you are getting it
A live call at an agreed time
Your tutor sends a link. It opens in a browser or on a phone; there is nothing to buy and nothing to install.
The same tutor each time
The person who learns how the learner thinks in week one is the person still teaching in week six.
The learner’s own work
Sessions run on the homework, the module and the exam the learner actually has, so there is no second syllabus to keep up with.
A schedule you set
Agreed with you, including evenings and weekends. When it stops working, it changes.
Somebody to tell when it is wrong
A session did not happen, the time no longer suits, or you would like someone else on the screen. You tell us and we deal with it, and the new tutor on the call costs you nothing.
The right person holds the account
An adult learner holds their own account. For a learner under 18, scheduling, billing and messages go to a parent or guardian, because the Data Privacy Act says a minor cannot give valid consent.
What works well online
Most subjects do. These are the ones learners ask for most, and the ones where a shared screen adds something real
Fitting it around a real week
School, work, the commute, and everything that moves without asking
Times that suit the learner’s week
Early evening after school, later once a shift or a lecture ends, or weekends. You tell us what is possible and we match inside it.

As often as it is worth
Weekly for steady support, more often before an exam, less during a quiet term. Frequency stays a choice you can revisit at any time.

Online, in person, or both
Start with whichever suits and change your mind later. Plenty of learners keep one session a week at home and take the rest online.

What you need to join
Less than you might think: a screen, a connection and a table
There is no app to buy and no equipment to invest in. Your tutor sends a video link before the session; it opens in a browser or on a phone. What matters more than the device is somewhere the learner can sit and be heard for an hour.
A phone is enough to start
A laptop or tablet is easier for writing-heavy subjects, and better for coding. For most sessions a phone works.
A connection that holds a video call
An ordinary home or mobile connection will do: if it holds a video call with friends, it holds a session. Say so at the start if the connection is unreliable, because it changes how a tutor paces the hour.
Paper and a pen
Most of the work still happens on paper. The tutor asks the learner to hold it up to the camera, which is usually quicker than typing it.
A quiet-ish corner
Any table where the learner can hear and be heard for the length of the session.

An hour of Grade 2 reading and an hour of Senior High physics are different work, so the table below prices them by grade band, from Preschool to college entrance review.
Longer packages cost less per hour
Booking twelve or twenty-four hours up front lowers the hourly rate. Single sessions are also available while the learner finds out whether online suits them.
Nothing extra to install
Sessions run in the browser or on a phone. There is no platform fee, and the price you see is the price per hour of teaching.
Good to know
- All prices are in Philippine pesos (₱), per hour.
- Online and home visits have separate rates; a home visit runs at least 1.5 hours.
- Asking about a tutor costs nothing.
