Language Tutor Philippines for Filipino, English and Arabic Learners
Language tutors in the Philippines from Eduline teach four programs one-to-one: Filipino Language, Conversational Filipino, ESL and Arabic. Learners include someone raised abroad who understands Filipino and answers in English, a foreign spouse or resident, a speaker of another language building English, and madrasah students or Gulf-bound workers learning Arabic, online anywhere or at home.
Who asks for which language here
Filipino is asked for by two groups. Balikbayan learners, from primary pupils to young adults, grew up in the Gulf, North America or Europe and follow every word at a lola's table while saying almost nothing back. Expats, foreign spouses and people posted here for work find that English carries them through the office and the clinic and leaves them outside the table talk and the joking.
English is asked for by learners whose first language is Korean, Japanese, Chinese or another tongue, drawn here because English is used all day, and by children in international and private schools who study every subject in a language they are still building.
Arabic has two audiences needing almost opposite courses. Many learners in Mindanao and Metro Manila sit in a madrasah or in DepEd's Arabic Language and Islamic Values Education (ALIVE) class, set up under Department Order 41, series of 2017, and recite the script well while understanding little of it. Workers heading to Saudi Arabia, the UAE, Qatar or Kuwait need spoken Gulf dialect by a departure date.
Filipino the language, Filipino the school subject
A student enrolled in a Philippine school who is losing marks in Filipino class has a school-subject problem: balarila, panitikan, comprehension and formal writing, graded each quarter on the DepEd report card. That belongs to Filipino tutoring in the academics category.
The programs on this page teach the language to somebody building it. A quick test helps: if the worry is a grade, go to academics; if the worry is holding a conversation with a grandmother or a coworker, stay here. Some learners need both.
What an hour with a tutor can and cannot move
One-to-one time gives the learner most of the speaking, and it can aim at the errors their first language causes: English articles for a speaker whose language has none, Filipino verb focus for an English speaker, Arabic script for an adult hand that has never written it.
An hour or two a week is a small share of a learner's week. A child who answers in English at home keeps doing so unless relatives agree to wait for the Filipino. Fluency moves at the pace of the practice around the sessions, so the tutor sets a home routine alongside every lesson. Someone living in Cebu or Davao may also want Cebuano, which sits outside these four programs.
Matching the learner to one of four programs
- Filipino Language
Pick this when the learner wants the whole language, speaking plus reading and writing, such as a child raised abroad or a resident who needs to handle forms and messages.
- Conversational Filipino
Pick this when talking with family, neighbors or coworkers is the entire goal and written work is genuinely unwanted.
- English as a Second Language
Pick this when English is a second language still being built, for a foreign student, a resident adult or a child in an English-medium school.
- Arabic
Pick this for a child whose madrasah or ALIVE Arabic needs comprehension behind the recitation, or for an adult preparing for work in the Gulf.
Questions about Languages
Understanding Tagalog and always answering in English: which program fits?
Filipino Language. Sobrang common po ito sa mga lumaki abroad: naiintindihan nila lahat, pero English ang lumalabas. Understanding and speaking grow separately, so lessons give the learner low-pressure practice producing it.
Will the Arabic tutor follow the learner's ALIVE or madrasah class?
Yes. The tutor works from what the class is covering and looks for the earlier gap underneath a slipping mark, so the learner never carries a second syllabus on top of the first.
Is ESL the same as IELTS or TOEFL preparation?
They are separate jobs. ESL builds the English itself. If your English is already above the score you need and the test format is what beats you, the exam pages are the place to start.
How are lessons delivered, and how is the rate set?
Online lessons reach learners anywhere in the Philippines, and home visits go to the language tutor who lives nearest you. Each hour carries one written rate for your format, sent to you with the tutor's name, and trading that Filipino, English or Arabic tutor for another later costs nothing.
