Terms of Service

Terms of use for Eduline Philippines private tutoring services

Last updated: September 29, 2026

Introduction

Eduline's Terms of Service rest on Philippine law: the Civil Code on obligations and contracts, the Electronic Commerce Act of 2000 (Republic Act No. 8792), the Consumer Act of the Philippines (Republic Act No. 7394), and the Data Privacy Act of 2012 (Republic Act No. 10173).\n\nEduline ("Eduline", "we", "us", or "our") operates a service that introduces learners in the Philippines, and whoever books on their behalf, to independent private tutors. By using the service you agree to these Terms. Please read them before you book.\n\nOne point shapes everything below, so it comes first: **Eduline is a matching service.** Every tutor works with the learner as an independent provider, as section 3 sets out. What we owe you is a careful match and a working platform around it, and section 9 states exactly where that responsibility ends.

1. Definitions

These terms are used throughout this document with the meanings given here.

Eduline, we, us

Eduline, operating the website at eduline.ph and the tutor-matching service delivered through it.

Client, you

The person who requests a match, books sessions, and is responsible for payment: an adult learner booking for themselves, or whoever books for a learner: a parent, guardian, sibling, partner, employer or sponsor. Where the learner is a minor, the client is always an adult.

Learner

The person who receives tutoring, of any age, from a school pupil to a working adult. A learner may be a minor, in which case a parent or guardian acts for them in everything covered by these Terms.

Tutor

An independent provider accepted onto the platform to deliver tutoring. A tutor is not an employee, agent, or partner of Eduline.

Session

A single scheduled period of tutoring, whether at the learner’s home, at a centre, or online.

2. Acceptance and Electronic Agreement

These Terms form a contract between you and Eduline. Under RA 8792, an agreement concluded electronically carries full legal effect. Clicking to accept, submitting an enquiry, or booking a session binds you the same way a signature on paper would.

Who may agree

You must have legal capacity to contract under the Civil Code. A minor cannot agree to these Terms; a parent or guardian must do so on the learner’s behalf and remains responsible for the booking.

Electronic records

Enquiries, bookings, confirmations, invoices, and messages exchanged through the platform are electronic documents under RA 8792 and may be relied on as evidence of what was agreed.

Your data

How we handle personal data is governed by our Privacy Policy and by RA 10173. Consent to marketing is asked for separately, and agreeing to these Terms is never treated as that consent.

3. The Tutoring Service

What we undertake to do, set out clause by clause so every commitment can be checked.

What we provide

We read what a learner needs, propose tutors who genuinely teach that subject and level, arrange the introduction, and support the arrangement while it runs, including a free tutor replacement whenever the learner, or the client acting for them, asks for one.

Tutors are independent

Tutors set their own teaching methods and are responsible for the instruction they deliver. Eduline is not their employer and does not control the content of a session. Acceptance onto the platform means a tutor has passed our checks; results are covered by the clause below.

Results and admission decisions

We do not promise a grade, a passing mark, or admission to any school or university; each of those is decided by the learner's own work and by the institution concerned. What we commit to is a qualified, verified, subject-matched tutor and a clear account of progress.

Matching

Each match is made to the tutor who fits the request in your area and subject, and we propose that tutor to you before the first session.

4. Payment and Refund

Prices, what they include, and when money comes back to you. Our obligations under the Consumer Act (RA 7394) on truthful pricing and fair dealing apply to everything in this section.

Refund and Cancellation Policy

Refunds and cancellations are governed by our Refund and Cancellation Policy, which forms part of these Terms. It sets out every rule with its time limit: a full refund before the first lesson, unused paid lessons refunded when you stop, 24 hours to move or cancel a lesson for free, and approved refunds sent within 7 business days to the card or e-wallet you paid with.

Read the Refund and Cancellation Policy

Prices and quotations

Rates are quoted in Philippine pesos before you commit, and include everything you are being asked to pay. We do not add charges after a booking is confirmed.

Payment

Payment is made through the methods offered at checkout. Card and e-wallet credentials are handled by our payment provider, never by us.

Cancellation and rescheduling

Move or cancel a session free of charge with at least 24 hours of notice before it starts. With less than 24 hours of notice, the session counts as taught unless it can be moved with your tutor, as the Refund and Cancellation Policy explains.

When a session fails

If a tutor does not appear, or a session cannot proceed for a reason attributable to us or to the tutor, you are not charged for it, and where you have already paid, it is refunded or credited at your choice.

Misdescribed service

Where the service delivered is materially different from what was described to you, your remedies under RA 7394 are unaffected by anything in these Terms.

5. Client Obligations

What we need from you for the arrangement to work.

Accurate information

Tell us the learner’s actual level and needs. A match built on an inflated or vague description wastes the learner’s time first.

A safe place to learn

For home sessions, provide a suitable and safe space. For sessions involving a minor at home, an adult should be present in the household.

Punctuality and notice

Be ready at the scheduled time, and give as much notice as you can when you need to move a session.

Payment on time

Settle invoices by the due date. Tutors are paid from what you pay, and late payment reaches them directly.

Book through the platform

Keep bookings and payments on the platform. Arranging privately with a tutor introduced by us removes the protections in these Terms (vetting, dispute support and re-matching) from both sides.

6. Tutor Obligations

What a tutor accepts by joining the platform. These are conditions of remaining on it.

Truthful credentials

Qualifications, experience, and subjects taught must be accurately stated and evidenced. Misrepresentation is grounds for immediate removal.

Verification

Submission to identity verification and the background checks required to teach minors, and to re-verification when we ask for it.

Child safeguarding

Conduct appropriate to working with children at all times. Any conduct that endangers a learner ends the engagement immediately and is reported to the proper authorities. This obligation is not waivable and does not end with deactivation.

Reliability

Attend scheduled sessions, arrive prepared, and give prompt notice when genuinely unable to attend.

Confidentiality

Learner information received through a match is used for teaching that learner and nothing else. It is not retained after the engagement ends, shared, or used to solicit work off-platform.

Independent status

Responsibility for the tutor’s own taxes, registrations, and statutory obligations sits with the tutor as an independent provider.

7. Prohibited Conduct

Conduct that ends access to the service, for clients and tutors alike.

Harassment or abuse

Any harassment, discrimination, threat, or abusive behaviour toward a learner, tutor, or member of staff.

Endangering a minor

Any conduct that places a learner at risk. Reported to the authorities, without exception and without regard to commercial consequence.

Circumventing the platform

Soliciting or accepting off-platform arrangements with a counterparty introduced by Eduline, in order to avoid fees or the obligations in these Terms.

False information

Fabricated credentials, impersonation, fraudulent payment, or fake reviews and testimonials.

Misuse of the platform

Scraping, unauthorised access, interference with the service, or using it to distribute unlawful material.

8. Intellectual Property

Who owns what, on the site and in a session.

Our material

The Eduline name, logo, site design, and published content are ours or licensed to us, and are protected under the Intellectual Property Code (RA 8293). You may read and share them; you may not republish them as your own.

Tutor material

Teaching material a tutor creates remains the tutor’s. Sharing it with a learner for that learner’s study does not transfer ownership or permit redistribution.

What you submit

Reviews and feedback you post remain yours. You give us permission to display them in connection with the service. We do not edit a review to make it more flattering.

9. Limitation of Liability

The boundary of our responsibility, stated in full here so that every limitation is one you have read and agreed to. Nothing in this section limits liability that Philippine law does not permit us to limit, including liability for fraud, for gross negligence, or for death or injury caused by our fault.

What we are responsible for

Matching honestly and carefully, verifying tutors before we introduce them, operating the platform, and handling your data lawfully.

What we are not responsible for

The academic outcome of tutoring, a tutor’s independent acts beyond the standards we impose and verify, or a private arrangement made outside the platform after an introduction.

Service interruptions

We run the platform to be available whenever sessions are scheduled. Uninterrupted access sits outside the warranties in these Terms, and where an interruption prevents a paid session, section 4 applies.

Consumer rights preserved

Your rights under the Consumer Act (RA 7394) and other Philippine consumer legislation stand whatever this section says.

10. Suspension and Termination

How either side ends the arrangement.

By you

You may stop using the service or close your account at any time by writing to us. Sessions already booked and amounts already owed should be settled first.

By us

We may suspend or end access for breach of these Terms, for conduct in section 7, or where continuing would put a learner at risk. Where a matter involves a learner’s safety, suspension is immediate and the explanation follows.

After termination

Obligations that by their nature survive (confidentiality, safeguarding, intellectual property, accrued payment, and the record-keeping our Privacy Policy describes) continue after access ends.

11. Governing Law and Disputes

These Terms are governed by the laws of the Republic of the Philippines. We would rather resolve a complaint than litigate it, and the steps below reflect that.

Talk to us first

Raise the issue with us directly. Most disputes about a session, a match, or an invoice are resolved this way, quickly and without cost to you.

Consumer remedies

Nothing here requires you to come to us before exercising a right. You may bring a consumer complaint to the Department of Trade and Industry under RA 7394, and a data privacy complaint to the National Privacy Commission under RA 10173, at any time.

Venue

A claim may be filed in the proper court under the Rules of Court, which lets you bring a personal action where you reside. Nothing in these Terms narrows that choice.

12. Changes to These Terms

How we change this document.

Notice

The "last updated" date above always reflects the current version. Where a change materially affects your rights, your money, or your obligations, we give notice before it takes effect.

Bookings already made

A confirmed booking is governed by the Terms in force when it was confirmed. We do not apply new terms retroactively to something you have already paid for.
