GMRC Tutor Philippines for the written work the report card grades
GMRC tutor support in the Philippines covers the written half of a subject graded under RA 11476 from Grade 1 to Grade 10: explaining a concept on paper, analyzing a situation, and writing a reflection that answers the question it was given. Values themselves are formed at home and at school, and they stay there.

What isGMRC and Values Education tutoring
A session works on two skills the report card actually scores: putting a value into an accurate definition, and applying it to a case the learner has not seen before. RA 11476 is why two subjects exist here: GMRC through Grade 6, Values Education from Grade 7 to Grade 10, each with its own grade in every basic-education classroom, public or private.
Key Points
1GMRC Grades 1-6 and Values Education Grades 7-10, separate graded subjects under RA 11476
2We work on the assessment: the explanations, projects and written reasoning the subject grades
3A learner can be genuinely decent and still score badly: the grade measures written work
4No moral or religious position is taught, here or anywhere on this site
5Both GMRC and Values Education are billed per hour, at the rate shown on this page

01
Duration: 90 minutes
At your home
Suits a subject built on discussion and writing, where a reflection improves fastest with someone reading the draft as it takes shape and asking the awkward follow-up question right there. The youngest learners here, in Grades 1 to 3, keep less focus across ninety minutes straight, so their session breaks into a handful of shorter stretches with a short pause in between. By the time a learner reaches Values Education, the same 90 minutes usually holds together as one longer stretch of drafting and back-and-forth.
Drafts read and questioned as they are written
Returned reflections gone through line by line
Shorter stretches with a pause between them for the Grades 1 to 3 band

Online
Live video with a shared document. The work is talking through a situation and then writing about it, both of which transfer well, and for some learners it is easier to think aloud on a screen than across a table.

Why Choose Us
How we handle this subject
Six principles for a subject many learners never expected to need a tutor for
01
Values stay with home and school
Home, school and community form a learner's values. The tutor's work is the reasoning and writing the subject grades, and it stays there.
02
Neutral on every moral and religious question
The work is reasoning and writing. Where a question has a genuinely contested answer, a tutor teaches the learner how to argue from a principle, and the choice of principle stays with the learner.
03
The grade is separated from the person
A decent learner can score badly here because the assessment measures written explanation. Saying that out loud usually takes most of the pressure off the learner before any tutoring starts.
04
Built on the subject as RA 11476 defines it
GMRC in Grades 1 to 6 and Values Education in Grades 7 to 10 are separate graded subjects, with different assessment. A tutor treating them as one will teach the wrong thing to half of them.
05
Committed to every returned piece
A teacher assigns this grade from a rubric only they apply. What we commit to is effort on every reflection and portfolio piece that comes back, and a swap to a different tutor, free, as soon as you ask.
06
Rate before booking
GMRC and Values Education both start from the hourly rate shown on this page. Whichever grade band the learner sits in, we put the exact figure in writing before you book a single session.
Mastery Ladder
Two subjects, and they are not the same job

GMRC, Grades 1 to 3
Concrete, and mostly spoken
1/4
Good manners, honesty, care for others, responsibility at home and at school: taught through situations a child recognizes. Assessment at this stage is light and largely oral, so the tutoring is mostly about explaining the reason behind a choice as well as making it.
Subjects:
Pakikitungo sa kapwaKatapatan at responsibilidadPag-aalaga sa sarili at kapaligiranSimpleng pagpapaliwanag
Focus Areas:
Explaining a choice out loud
Reading the question before answering
Short sessions, concrete situations
GMRC, Grades 4 to 6
Where the writing starts to count
2/4
The same ground, assessed on paper. Learners are asked to explain why an action was right or wrong and to apply a principle to a situation they have not seen before, and that second move is where a decent, well-behaved pupil can start losing points.
Subjects:
Pagpapasya at bunga nitoPamilya, paaralan at pamayananPagsusuri ng sitwasyonMaikling pagninilay
Focus Areas:
Applying a principle to a new situation
Writing an answer that answers the question
Reasons given alongside every conclusion
Values Education, Grades 7 to 10
MATATAG through Grade 9, an older framework for Grade 10 alone
3/4
The subject turns abstract (dignity, freedom, the common good, conscience), and the assessment turns into analysis and extended reflection. Learners who coasted through GMRC on being agreeable meet a subject that wants an argument, and it catches them out.
Subjects:
Pagpapahalaga at pagpapasyaKarapatan at responsibilidadKabutihang panlahatMalawak na pagninilay
Focus Areas:
Reasoning from a principle to a case
Reflection with a claim in it
Grade 10 remains on the pre-MATATAG curriculum through SY 2027-2028
Senior High
Life and Career Skills, if that is what you mean
4/4
RA 11476 stops naming the subject Values Education after Grade 10. What follows it in the Strengthened Senior High School Curriculum is Life and Career Skills, one of five core subjects, built around planning, self-management, and putting learning to use beyond the classroom. Read us the exact wording printed on the report card, and the reply confirms the tutor for that exact subject.

What the sessions actually work on
Every module aims at the answer the rubric rewards
A tutor here works on the reflection paper and the analysis behind it, since that is what gets graded. Character is built at home, at school, and in the community, over years, and the sessions leave that work where it belongs.
Module 01
Reading the question
A surprising share of lost points in this subject come from answering a slightly different question. Reflection prompts are long, and learners answer the part they noticed.
Topics Covered
Finding what is actually being asked
Command words in a reflection prompt
How many parts the question has
Checking the answer against the prompt

In-Person Tutoring
At home, for reflections worked on paper
Home sessions suit reflections and portfolio work, since a draft marked up on paper beside the learner teaches the rubric fastest. Say where you are and the reply names the GMRC tutor who covers your area.

Including two situations where the answer is not a tutor
01
A well-behaved learner with a low grade
Kind, responsible, liked by teachers, and scoring in the seventies. The grade measures written explanation, and once the learner sees that, the frustration usually drops immediately.
Good for:Work from returned reflectionsStructure taught explicitlyA focused block before the next reflection paper
02
A learner who cannot write abstractly
Fine while the subject was about sharing and tidying up, lost once it became dignity and the common good. That shift lands in Grade 7 and it is a writing problem more than a thinking one.
Good for:Abstract vocabulary built deliberatelyPrinciple applied to concrete casesWeekly through the transition
03
A learner behind on portfolio work
The grade is largely output produced over weeks, and a capable but disorganized learner can fall a long way behind in a subject they find easy.
Good for:Rubric read before anything is madeWork planned across weeksSupport that ends when the backlog does
04
Looking for character formation
Formation is the work of home, school and community. These sessions serve the graded side of the subject, and the school's guidance office is the partner for formation itself.
Good for:Formation led by home and schoolThe school's guidance office as a partnerTutoring for the graded reflection papers and performance tasks
05
A learner whose real problem is Filipino
Knowing exactly what dignity or the common good means will not save a thin answer if the paper is graded in Filipino and the vocabulary needed there is the formal, academic kind. A Filipino tutor builds that vocabulary first, and the GMRC reasoning work sits on top of it.
Good for:Grading language checked with the schoolFormal Filipino vocabulary built in the Filipino programGMRC reasoning practiced once the words are there
What goes wrong
Six ways a good student gets a bad grade in this subject
None of these is about character, which is exactly why they sting a learner who behaves well
1
Writing feelings where an argument belongs
Why it happens
The word reflection suggests a diary entry, so the learner writes honestly about how something made them feel and produces nothing the rubric can award points to.
How we fix it
Keep the honesty and add a claim. A reflection still needs a point, and personal experience becomes evidence the moment it is used to support one.
2
Answering the part of the prompt they noticed
Why it happens
Prompts in this subject are long and often have three parts. A learner reads until they recognize something, starts writing, and never returns to the rest.
How we fix it
Number the parts of the prompt before writing a word, then check each one off. It takes a minute and it is the single highest-return habit here.
3
Reciting the textbook definition
Why it happens
The abstract vocabulary is hard, so the learner reproduces the book's wording. A grader can tell instantly, and the answer shows recall with the understanding missing.
How we fix it
Practice defining each term twice: once in the learner's own words, once with an example that genuinely fits. If the example is vague, the definition has not landed.
4
Assuming the right answer is the nice answer
Why it happens
Learners guess at what the teacher wants to hear and produce something agreeable and unsupported. The subject is asking them to reason, and agreeable reasoning is still unreasoned.
How we fix it
Ask why after every position. A conclusion the learner can defend scores better than a conclusion they think is expected.
5
Leaving the portfolio until the deadline
Why it happens
Portfolio pieces for this subject get assigned weeks ahead, and because the subject feels light next to math or science, they slide to the bottom of the pile. They all surface again at once, right when every other subject's deadlines land too.
How we fix it
Read the rubric in week one and put the work into the week's schedule like any other subject. Nothing here is difficult; it is only ignored until it is late.
6
Writing in the wrong register or the wrong language
Why it happens
When the exam is set in Filipino, a learner used to speaking it casually often answers the same way on paper, or drifts into English partway through. Either habit costs marks that have nothing to do with whether the reasoning was sound.
How we fix it
Establish which language the assessment uses, then build the abstract vocabulary in that language. When that gap is large, the Filipino program builds the vocabulary first, and GMRC sessions follow on it.
Hand over one graded reflection, and most of the six show up inside the first few minutes of reading it. Working through that paper together is nearly the whole of what an opening session covers.
What GMRC and Values Education tutoring costs
One hour buys a tutor working through a returned reflection or a portfolio piece with the learner. The per-hour figure moves with grade band (GMRC or Values Education), format (home visit or online), and area (Metro Manila or a provincial address).
From
₱400 / hour
Home visit, Metro Manila
₱550 / hour
Online
₱400 / hour
Home visit, provincial areas
₱400 / hour
Per hour, one tutor with one learner. Home visits run at least 1.5 hours. Packages: 12 hours at 5% off, 24 hours at 10% off.
Much of the grade in this subject comes from reflections and portfolio work produced across the term. Many learners find the 12-hour package covers a full term, with no need to keep booking week by week.
FAQ
What GMRC learners ask
Usually beginning with whether this is tutorable at all
01
Can you even tutor a subject like this?
Yes: you can tutor what it grades, and that is a set of academic skills. The report card is measuring whether a learner can explain a concept accurately, apply a principle to a situation they have not seen, and write a reflection that answers the prompt it was given. Those are ordinary academic skills. What the learner believes stays their own; the sessions teach how to explain and apply it on paper.

Send over the grade level, a reflection or portfolio entry that scored lower than hoped, and the rubric if one exists. A tutor works through the material and writes back explaining what the grader was actually looking for, where the response came up short, the going rate for that grade band, and how many sessions would lift the next one.
