Senior High tutor jobs Philippines across the new elective clusters
Senior High tutor jobs in the Philippines with Eduline mean part-time teaching at the learner's home or online, free to apply for. Since SY 2026-2027, every Grade 11 class in public and private schools follows the Strengthened SHS under DepEd Memorandum No. 012, s. 2026, so electives now come in clusters.
Elective tutoring in the year strands ended
Most requests arrive in the old language. A Grade 11 student writes that they are in STEM and need help, and the subject turns out to be Pre-Calculus or Chemistry inside the new STEM cluster. Another says ABM, which today maps to the Business and Entrepreneurship cluster, and the real need is Basic Accounting. HUMSS now sits under Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities, and former GAS students spread across that cluster and Business. Your first task in every placement is to read the learner's actual subject list and teach to it.
Grade 12 this school year is split in two. Learners in pilot schools continue into the second year of the Strengthened SHS, while Grade 12 in non-pilot schools finishes on the old strand curriculum as its last cohort. A tutor can easily carry one learner on a strand subject and another on a cluster elective in the same week, so you keep both maps in your head and ask which program the school runs before the first session.
Telling the two Grade 12 programs apart takes one question: which curriculum did the learner follow in Grade 11? DepEd Memorandum No. 036, s. 2026 keeps the revised Grade 12 for learners who took the revised Grade 11 in a pilot school, so a learner who took the 2016 Grade 11 stays on the strand subjects. Public schools now spread those Grade 12 subjects over three terms, while a private SHS, LUC or SUC may keep two semesters once the hours are met. Your Tuesday learner and your Thursday learner can run on different calendars, and each session plan follows that school's own term.
A typical session starts from the learner's handouts and the topic the class reached that week. Electives build on each other: Pre-Calculus rests on General Mathematics from Grade 11, and Biology 4 assumes Biology 1 to 3. Academic electives run about 80 hours each, so a unit moves quickly and a learner who misses one lesson feels it at the next quiz. You find the gap in the chain, close it, then work the current lesson with the learner doing the solving.
Learners on the Technical-Professional track take electives of about 320 hours that line up with TESDA National Certificates, plus mandatory work immersion of 320 to 640 hours. Tutors with a TechPro background help with the theory side, written outputs and readiness for NC assessment, a step many earlier SHS-TVL completers skipped: only 35% of eligible completers took the TESDA assessment.
Science electives keep their lab work at school. At home you take the lab report, the data table and the calculations behind it, along with the problem sets in General Physics and General Chemistry that Grade 12 strand learners still carry this year.
Grade 12 strand subjects close with Work Immersion, Research, Career Advocacy or a Culminating Activity, beside Practical Research 2 and Inquiries, Investigations and Immersion. These outputs reach the table in pieces: a research question that is too wide, a data table with no analysis yet, an immersion report that lists tasks and says little about what was learned. You coach each part by asking questions and marking drafts, and the learner writes every line that gets handed in. Immersion and field days take learners off campus, so these sessions often land on evenings and weekends.
Old strand names and the subjects behind them this year
Requests still arrive in strand names. Each name points to a different subject list depending on whether the learner is in Grade 11 or in the last Grade 12 strand cohort.
- STEM
Grade 11 now enters the STEM cluster, whose electives include Pre-Calculus, Basic Calculus, Trigonometry, Biology 1 to 4 and Physics 1 to 4. Grade 12 on the 2016 curriculum takes General Physics 1 and 2, General Chemistry 1 and 2 and General Biology 2.
- ABM
Grade 11 lands in Business and Entrepreneurship, starting from Business 1 (Basic Accounting). Grade 12 strand learners take Fundamentals of ABM 2, Business Finance, Business Mathematics, Applied Economics, and Business Ethics and Social Responsibility.
- HUMSS
Grade 11 lands in Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities with Introduction to Philosophy, Contemporary Literature and Philippine Governance. Grade 12 strand learners take Disciplines and Ideas in the Applied Social Sciences, Creative Fiction, and Trends, Networks and Critical Thinking, among others.
- GAS
The strand has no single successor. Grade 12 GAS learners take two electives from any track, and a Grade 11 learner today assembles electives across clusters.
- TVL
Now the Technical-Professional track, built on 10 clusters of TESDA NC qualifications such as Computer Systems Servicing NC II, Bakery Operations NC II, Technical Drafting NC II and Caregiving NC II. Workshop hours stay at school; at home you cover calculation, written theory, safety standards and documentation.
- Arts and Design, Sports
Both now sit under the Academic track, with electives such as Human Movement 1 and Sports Coaching on the sports side.
Clusters and electives you can tutor
Pick the clusters you teach well. The old strand name a learner uses tells you where to look, and the school's subject list tells you what to teach. Core General Mathematics in Grade 11 is posted under the Mathematics tutor role, and college entrance test preparation under its own review role.
- STEM cluster mathematics
Pre-Calculus, Trigonometry, Advanced Mathematics and Finite Mathematics, with General Mathematics as the base every Grade 12 Pre-Calculus learner needs.
- STEM cluster sciences and data
Biology, Chemistry, Physics, and Earth and Space Science in numbered sequences, plus Database Management and Fundamentals of Data Analytics.
- Business and Entrepreneurship
Basic Accounting, Business Finance and Income Taxation, Contemporary Marketing and Business Economics, Entrepreneurship, and Introduction to Organization and Management.
- Arts, Social Sciences, and Humanities
Creative Writing or Malikhaing Pagsulat, Philippine Politics and Governance, and Wika at Komunikasyon sa Akademikong Filipino for learners who once said HUMSS.
- Research Methods and capstone outputs
The Field Experience cluster carries Research Methods and Design and Innovation, where a learner needs steady help shaping a question, a method and a written report.
- TechPro theory and NC readiness
Written theory for clusters such as ICT/Programming, aligned with TESDA National Certificates, for learners preparing outputs and assessments.
- Grade 12 strand subjects
Grade 12 learners in non-pilot schools finish this year on the old strand subjects, and they still need tutors who know that program.
What an elective tutor brings
Depth in one or two clusters is what learners ask for most.
- Solid command of the clusters you choose, for example Pre-Calculus and Physics, or Basic Accounting and Business Finance.
- A working grasp of the Strengthened SHS: Academic and TechPro tracks, elective clusters, and the old strand names learners still use.
- Patience with prerequisite gaps, and the habit of tracing a hard topic back to the Grade 11 lesson it depends on.
- Valid ID issued by the Philippine government, and your diploma or TOR.
- PRC licensure is optional for elective tutors.
- NBI clearance before the first elective placement, required of every tutor.
- For home visits, a teaching spot where a grown-up stays within earshot when the student is under 18.
- For online sessions, a laptop with a camera and a connection steady enough for a full lesson.
Why tutor with Eduline
These terms hold for every Eduline tutor, online or in person.
You set the schedule
Tell us the hours you can teach and we only send you placements that fit them. Nobody is assigned a session they did not agree to.
The rate is agreed before you accept
Every placement comes with its hourly rate stated up front, and you decide whether to take it. The rate follows the subject, the level and the setting of that placement, and you can ask for the current rates in your subjects when you apply.
A person on the team matches you
We read what you can teach and who you teach well, and send you learners who fit. You are not a listing in a directory waiting to be found.
No fee to apply, ever
No application fee, no training fee, no deposit. Any tutoring service that asks a tutor to pay before they can start earning is worth walking away from.
We handle the awkward conversations
Rescheduling, a request for more hours than were agreed, a learner who has stopped turning up. You teach; we deal with the rest.
Your voice shapes the work
Eduline tutors help set how placements, briefings and progress updates run. What works in your sessions feeds straight into how the next learner is served.
How the hourly rate is offered
Every elective offer names its hourly rate before you say yes. Three things move that figure: the elective itself, which year of Senior High the learner sits in, and whether the sessions meet in the learner's home or over a video call. Picture two learners in the same week. One is a Grade 12 ABM strand learner at a private SHS that kept two semesters, working through Business Finance on a long semester that closes with a research output. The other is a Grade 11 learner at a public school on the three-term calendar, whose Basic Accounting elective opens and ends inside one term of about 80 hours.
So when you apply, ask two things for each elective you list: the current hourly rate at Grade 11 and at Grade 12, and how a placement is handled when the learner's term ends and the next elective begins. Give the team the weekday evenings and weekend slots you can teach, and the session days in each offer are drawn from those slots.
From application to your first elective learner
- 1
Name your clusters and free hours
Introduce yourself, the clusters and electives you teach, whether you take Grade 11, Grade 12 or both, and the hours you are free.
- 2
Send ID, diploma or TOR
ID, diploma or TOR, and PRC card if you have one. Clear the NBI before the first elective placement.
- 3
Talk through your electives
Someone from the team talks with you by phone or video about the electives and levels you want, and how you handle prerequisite gaps.
- 4
Take your first elective learner
Each offer states the elective, the student's grade, session days and hourly rate. Accept it or turn it down, and the next offer follows. If a household or a schedule stops suiting you, say so and the team re-matches you; a learner who wants a different tutor is given one free of charge.
Questions from elective tutor applicants
Learners keep saying STEM or ABM. Do I teach the old strand subjects?
You teach whatever the learner's school lists. Grade 11 everywhere and Grade 12 in pilot schools follow the Strengthened SHS clusters, where STEM is a cluster and ABM became Business and Entrepreneurship. Grade 12 in non-pilot schools finishes this year on the old strand subjects. Ask for the subject list before the first session.
Can I apply for only one or two electives?
Yes. Many elective tutors teach a narrow set, such as Pre-Calculus and Trigonometry, or Basic Accounting and Business Finance and Income Taxation. Someone on the team reads what you teach well and offers you placements in those electives only.
I work as an accountant and never took the LET. Can I tutor the Business electives?
Yes. For this role, working experience in the subject counts as much as a teaching degree, so an accountant can take Basic Accounting and Business Finance and Income Taxation. Bring a valid government ID and your diploma or TOR, and clear the NBI before your first learner.
Is there tutoring for TechPro learners and their NC assessments?
Yes. TechPro electives line up with TESDA National Certificates, and learners on that track ask for help with the written theory, their outputs and assessment readiness. If your background is in a cluster such as ICT/Programming, say so in your application.
A learner switched clusters midway. Where do I start?
With the school's subject list and the prerequisites behind it. Learners may choose across clusters and take a subject from the other track, and a school need not offer every elective in a cluster. A learner heading into Entrepreneurship in Grade 12, for example, needs Basic Accounting and Introduction to Organization and Management first, so you check both before the first lesson.
My learner is in the last Grade 12 strand cohort. What changes for me?
SY 2026-2027 is the closing year of the 2016 Grade 12. Region VIII fixed one Grade 12 list so a transferee keeps the same subjects from school to school, while other regions may sequence them their own way, so your plan tracks whatever the learner's school issued. In practice the load is strand work in physics, chemistry, finance or fiction writing, topped by the research and immersion outputs due before classes end on 8 April 2027.
Do Grade 11 elective grades count toward college?
At some universities they do. The UPCAT admission score uses final grades from Grades 8 to 11, and UST's LEAPMed track accepts Strengthened SHS applicants who took at least one Grade 11 Science elective. Learners aiming there treat each elective grade as part of the application, and sessions are planned with that in mind.
I prefer calls only. Is there a role for that?
Yes, the Online Senior High Electives Tutor role runs entirely on calls and accepts applicants from the network countries. This role takes home visits and online sessions inside the Philippines, with lab reports and paper-marked work handled at the learner's table.
