Online Senior High tutor jobs Philippines for after-school slots
Online Senior High tutor jobs Philippines: a part-time role teaching Grade 11 and 12 electives after Philippine school hours, from a desk at home or from any of eight other countries in the online network, and applying costs nothing. Under a DepEd memorandum issued in 2026 (No. 012), every Grade 11 class moved onto the Strengthened SHS curriculum from SY 2026-2027.
Teaching SHS electives on a shared screen
This is a part-time online role for Senior High elective subjects, taught on a video call in the late afternoon and evening, Philippine time. Rooms in NCR senior high schools can hold 60 or more students, and many schools still run double or triple shifts, so a Grade 11 or Grade 12 student often reaches a quiet desk only after a long day. Your desk can sit in a Philippine province or a Gulf apartment, and the student joins from theirs.
Most of the hour happens on a shared screen. A Research Methods student opens a draft, and the two of you go through the problem statement, the survey instrument and the reference list on the same page. A Basic Accounting student shares a worksheet of journal entries, and you trace each debit and credit to the trial balance while they type the formulas. In Fundamentals of Data Analytics or Database Management, the student sorts a small data set or builds a table and explains each step aloud.
The subject matter follows the Strengthened Senior High School curriculum. Grade 11 now carries five core subjects, General Mathematics among them, and the student then builds a load of electives from clusters such as Business and Entrepreneurship or Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics. When a message still names an old strand, read it as a pointer to the matching cluster.
Two programs run side by side this school year. Grade 12 students in schools outside the pilot finish SY 2026-2027 as the last strand cohort, and Grade 11 starts on the cluster program. Some students already study part of the week through a screen: an April 2026 DepEd memo let private schools shift to blended learning during the energy emergency, with up to three remote days a week for Senior High.
A 2026 DepEd order on the school calendar (No. 009) also moved SY 2026-2027 onto three terms, and an Academic elective in the new program runs its whole course inside one term. Requests arrive when a term opens with a new elective and again as its assessments come near.
Research work stretches across weeks. Practical Research 2 and the culminating activity in Grade 12, or a Research Methods paper in the new program, live in one shared document: you leave margin comments between sessions, the student answers them in the draft, and the version history shows what moved since the last call. The sentences stay the student's own; you bring the questions and the method.
Teaching from the network countries, by local clock
A Senior High learner's day ends on Manila's clock, UTC+8, so your teaching hours depend on where you live. Here is how that evening block lands in each network country.
- Philippines
Your clock is the learner's clock, and NBI clearance comes before your first placement.
- Singapore and Malaysia
Both keep UTC+8, so a Manila evening session starts at the same hour at your desk.
- United Arab Emirates
UTC+4. A learner's 5 to 9 in the evening, Manila time, is 1 to 5 in the afternoon for you.
- Qatar
UTC+3, so the same block runs from noon to 4. Filipino learners in Philippine Schools Overseas in the Gulf reverse it: their after-school hours land in the Manila evening.
- Thailand, India, Egypt and Kenya
Set your offset against UTC+8 and list the local hours that match the Philippine evening.
Electives you would teach from your desk
These parts of the Senior High load move easily through a shared file and a screen.
- Research Methods
Draft chapters, questionnaires and reference lists sit in one shared document, so tutor and student edit the same page during the call.
- Basic Accounting
Journal entries, ledgers and the trial balance laid out in a spreadsheet the student shares, checked cell by cell until the columns agree.
- Business Finance and Income Taxation
Interest, loan and income tax computations built as spreadsheet formulas by the student while the tutor follows the logic of each one.
- Fundamentals of Data Analytics
Cleaning, sorting and charting a small data set, with the student on the mouse and the tutor asking why each choice was made.
- Database Management
Designing tables and writing simple queries on the student's own screen, then reading each error message together and fixing it.
- General Mathematics
The Grade 11 core subject that elective math builds on, worked on a digital whiteboard or with the camera aimed at paper.
- Business Mathematics and Business Finance (Grade 12 ABM)
Markups, interest and loan schedules built live in a spreadsheet: the student types each formula, fills it down, then checks one row by hand.
- General Chemistry and General Physics (Grade 12 STEM)
Problem sets on a digital whiteboard, and the readings from a school experiment graphed in a spreadsheet and written up as the lab report.
What you need to tutor SHS electives online
Working equipment, hours that match Philippine after-school time, and the documents every Eduline tutor provides.
- A laptop or desktop that can share its screen while a spreadsheet and a document editor stay open side by side.
- Home internet that holds video and screen sharing for an entire session, and a headset with a microphone.
- Solid command of at least one elective you want to teach, such as accounting, research writing, data analytics or database basics.
- A degree or working background in the elective: an accountant, a data analyst or a field researcher counts as much as a teacher.
- Comfort with spreadsheet formulas, comments inside documents and shared folders, since drafts and homework travel between you and the student as files.
- Free hours on weekday late afternoons or evenings, or on Saturdays, when Senior High students are done with school.
- A valid government ID and a transcript (TOR) or diploma; elective tutors need no PRC license.
- For applicants based in the Philippines, an NBI clearance filed before you meet a first student.
Your rate for each elective, named in the offer
Every online elective offer prints its hourly rate beside the elective and the grade, so the figure is in front of you before you open a single shared file with the student. The elective and the grade set it: guiding a Practical Research 2 paper across several weeks of margin comments and checking Basic Accounting worksheets cell by cell before a term assessment are separate offers, each with its own figure.
When you apply, list the electives you can carry, from spreadsheet subjects such as Business Finance and Income Taxation to writing subjects such as Research Methods, and ask for the current online rates in them. A person on the team answers with the figures for those electives.
How to apply as an online SHS tutor
- 1
List your electives and hours
Name your electives, grade (11, 12 or both), country of residence, and the after-school hours, Manila time, you keep free.
- 2
Send ID, transcript and clearance
A government ID, your transcript or diploma, any PRC license, and NBI clearance if you live in the Philippines, before your first student call.
- 3
Teach one topic on screen
A conversation about your electives, in which you walk through one topic on a shared screen, such as a journal entry or a research question.
- 4
Accept a placement that fits
The offer names the elective, the grade, the weekly slot and the hourly rate. The choice to take it is yours, and every offer fits the hours you stated.
What online SHS elective tutors ask first
Can I take this role while living abroad?
Yes. Beside applicants at home, the lane takes tutors living in the Gulf (the United Arab Emirates and Qatar), in Southeast Asia (Singapore, Malaysia and Thailand), and in India, Egypt and Kenya. You teach on Philippine school hours. Residents of the Philippines add NBI clearance; everyone else sends the same government-issued ID and diploma or transcript that a Manila applicant does.
Do Senior High students still ask for STEM, ABM or HUMSS tutors?
They do, and requests still carry them. An ABM request now points to the Business and Entrepreneurship cluster, a HUMSS request to the humanities and social sciences cluster, and STEM survives as a cluster name. Non-pilot Grade 12 students close SY 2026-2027 on the strand program.
What hours do Senior High students want for online sessions?
Placements follow the hours you list when you apply. Senior High students on shifted schedules often finish late, so evening and Saturday availability widens the range of offers you can receive, and every offer you get sits inside the hours you gave.
Can I tutor TechPro track electives online?
This role is online only. TechPro electives lead to TESDA National Certificates, and their hands-on competencies are practiced in school workshops. Online, you take the theory behind them: calculations, written procedures, documentation, and ICT or programming topics that live on a screen anyway.
How do worksheets, drafts and homework reach the student?
Files move through a shared folder or document link that the student opens on their side, and you return work with comments written inside the file. Keep a copy of every worksheet you build, so each session picks up where the previous one stopped.
What if a student asks me to write a graded paper or worksheet?
Graded output stays the student's work. You explain the method and mark problems in comments; the student writes the sentences, formulas and answers, and can then explain them when a teacher asks.
How heavy is a Grade 12 load this year?
On the strand program, Grade 12 means specialized courses (General Physics and General Chemistry for STEM, Business Finance, Business Mathematics and Applied Economics for ABM, Creative Fiction for HUMSS) stacked on Practical Research 2 and Inquiries, Investigations and Immersion, with the culminating activity at the end, often while sitting college entrance exams. This year those subjects are spread across three terms, so each term opens with a fresh set of specialized courses while the research paper keeps running underneath them.
What if a learner switched electives or schools in the middle of the year?
Students may pick electives across clusters, take a subject from the other track through DepEd's doorway option, or transfer to a school with a different elective set. Ask for the module the school issued and start from where that course stands this term.
