Araling Panlipunan Tutor Jobs Philippines, Grade 4 to Senior High

Araling Panlipunan tutor jobs, Philippines: part-time roles teaching AP in Filipino at learners' homes in your area or online. Under MATATAG, AP begins at Grade 4, while Grades 1 to 3 take Makabansa. You help pupils and students make history, ekonomiks and civics stick. Applying costs nothing.

What an AP session looks like

Each session pairs one learner with you, on whatever topic the class has reached this term. The MATATAG guide for Araling Panlipunan is written in Filipino, and DepEd Order 10 s. 2024 has AP taught in Filipino from Grade 7 through Grade 10, so most of your hour runs in the national language. A Grade 4 pupil may spend it fixing provinces on the map; a Grade 9 student may work through markets, prices and what government does in the economy.

The guide names congestion, too much content for the time given, as the reason MATATAG trimmed its competencies. Your work is to make what remains stay. For Grade 6 that means a timeline from 1872 to the 1987 Constitution that the learner builds alongside you; for Grade 7, a map of Southeast Asia; for Grade 9, a budget that turns literasing pampananalapi into numbers the learner can check. Dates are learned through why they mattered, the habit the guide calls historical significance.

SY 2026-2027 is the first school year cut into three terms. In each one the learner sits two teacher-made summative tests, then an end-of-term exam that runs to 40 questions for pupils up to Grade 6 and 50 for Grades 7 to 10, with higher-order thinking in the mix. Plan your sessions backward from those tests, and work beside the school's own remediation, which DepEd wants started as early as Week 5 for a learner below the minimum standards.

AP gets at least 200 minutes a week in school, so a learner who falls behind falls behind fast, and the ARAL tutorials of RA 12028 cover reading, math and science only. Requests come from pupils new to AP in Grade 4, from Cebuano, Hiligaynon or Ilocano speakers meeting AP in their second language, and from Grade 11 students in Pag-aaral ng Kasaysayan at Lipunang Pilipino.

Screen-only work open to the network countries is posted separately as the Online Araling Panlipunan Tutor role.

Performance tasks you coach, grade by grade

Every AP unit closes in something the learner makes. You coach the sources, the plan and the rehearsal; the learner writes, draws and presents it, since the rubric grades their own reasoning.

  • Grade 4: geography and public service

A talk on the country's geographic features, an activity on caring for resources, and a project urging classmates to support public servants. Check the map labels together, then rehearse the talk aloud until it sounds like the pupil's.

  • Grades 5 and 6: nationalism and a panukalang programa

An advocacy on the rise of Filipino nationalism, and in Grade 6 a proposed program answering a challenge the country has faced since 1987. Most of the coaching goes into narrowing that challenge until the proposal is specific enough to carry out.

  • Grade 7: pagtatanghal and ASEAN advocacy

A performance on nationalism in Southeast Asia and an advocacy on ASEAN's role in unity, sustainable development and human rights. Help the student pick one issue and two or three sources.

  • Grade 9: economic proposals

Proposals for a national economic problem or one sector. Prices the student sees at the market or the sari-sari store make inflation concrete before a word of the proposal is written.

  • Tasks shared across subjects

DepEd Order 15 s. 2026 lets one performance task count in several subjects, each with its own rubric. Read every rubric with the learner before the first draft.

What an AP tutor teaches, grade by grade

Each grade has its own MATATAG title, widening from the nation in Grade 4 to Asia and the world by Grade 8.

  • Grades 1 to 3: Makabansa

AP's themes sit inside Makabansa, the transdisciplinary subject of the first key stage. A parent or guardian registers the child, and lessons run in Filipino and English under RA 12027. This year performance tasks make up half of the Makabansa grade in Grades 2 and 3.

  • Grade 4: Ang Bansang Pilipinas

Map and globe skills, where the country sits and how far its territory reaches, then its economy and resources, government and the services funded by the national budget, and the symbols of Filipino identity.

  • Grades 5 and 6: Philippine history

Early societies to the rise of Filipino nationalism in Grade 5; 1872 to the present in Grade 6, from Rizal at Bagumbayan and Malolos to the 1987 Constitution and the West Philippine Sea.

  • Grade 7: Pilipinas sa Timog Silangang Asya

The region's geography and early history, colonialism and nationalism among the neighbors, and ASEAN with its work on human rights.

  • Grade 8: Ang Asya at Daigdig

Ancient civilizations, imperialism and nationalism, democracy, international relations and globalization.

  • Grade 9: Ekonomiks tungo sa Likas-kayang Pag-unlad

The smart consumer, demand and supply, GDP, inflation, taxes and public spending, monetary policy, then saving, investing and financial literacy.

  • Grade 10: Kontemporanyong Isyu

Contemporary issues stay the Grade 10 subject in the current program and in MATATAG, which Grade 10 enters in SY 2027-2028. The learner works from data and research toward a written argument of their own.

  • Senior high: Kasaysayan at Lipunang Pilipino

Strengthened SHS core subject for every Grade 11 learner from SY 2026-2027, whatever the track, at 160 hours a year; this year's Grade 12 stays on the old SHS curriculum.

  • Adults sitting the Civil Service Exam

Professional and Subprofessional takers both face general information on the Philippine Constitution, the Code of Conduct and Ethical Standards for Public Officials and Employees, peace and human rights, and environment management.

  • Students meeting Philippine history late

Schools with a Chinese heritage have taught inside the Philippine system since PD 176 of 1973, and DepEd affirmed in 2018 that Filipino stays the medium of AP. A student arriving from another country's curriculum starts with Grade 4 geography and the Grade 6 timeline.

What you need to teach AP

  • Fluent spoken and written Filipino, the language of the MATATAG AP guide and of AP classes from Grade 7 up.
  • Working knowledge of Philippine history from early societies to the Fifth Republic, with dates you can place on a timeline.
  • Comfort with Grade 9 economics: scarcity, markets, prices, inflation, taxes and the sectors of the economy.
  • For adult examinees, a close reading of the 1987 Constitution, which itself asks every school to teach it.
  • A habit of teaching from maps, documents and data, so the learner reasons from evidence and remembers through it.
  • Philippine ID in force, and proof of studies such as a TOR or diploma; licensure through the PRC is optional for AP.
  • NBI clearance ahead of the first AP placement, required of every tutor without exception.
  • At a home visit with a learner under 18, you teach while another adult stays in the home.

How the hourly rate reaches you

Before you agree to an AP placement, its offer shows the hourly rate together with the grade level and schedule. Subject, grade and the home-or-online setting decide that rate, so a Grade 10 AP placement online and a Grade 5 placement at home can carry different figures.

When you apply, ask what Araling Panlipunan pays at your grade levels and you get the current answer. Your teaching hours are yours to set, and offers come only inside them.

How to apply as an AP tutor

  1. 1

    Name your AP grades

Tell us who you are, which levels you handle from Grade 1 Makabansa to Grade 11 Kasaysayan, whether you also review Civil Service examinees, and your free days and hours.

  2. 2

Send your ID, TOR and NBI papers

Your Philippine government ID, TOR or diploma, PRC license if licensed, and NBI clearance ahead of the first AP learner.

  3. 3

Walk the team through one topic

A video or phone talk in which you explain how you would teach a topic you know well, such as Grade 4 map work, the Grade 6 timeline or Grade 9 inflation.

  4. 4

    Take up an AP offer

Someone on the team who knows your strongest grades sends an offer naming the AP grade, the term's topic, the schedule and the hourly rate. Taking it up is your choice, and a re-match is yours whenever a placement does not suit you. The learner gets a free tutor replacement whenever they ask.

What AP tutor applicants ask

How do I build a timeline at the table with a Grade 6 learner?

Lay a long strip of paper along the table. The Grade 6 guide supplies the anchors: 1872, the 1896 to 1898 revolution, Malolos, the 1935 Commonwealth, 1946 to 1986, and the 1987 Constitution. The learner writes each event on the line, a cause above it and a consequence below it. The strip stays at home between sessions, so each lesson picks up where the last one ended.

What if the learner memorizes dates and cannot explain them?

Ask why before when. Put two events side by side and have the learner say, in a Filipino sentence of their own, how the first led to the second. The guide names thematic and inquiry approaches beside chronology, and the higher-order questions on the Grade 7 to 10 term exam ask for that kind of explanation.

How do I teach Grade 9 Ekonomiks with the student's own numbers?

Start with the student's own week: fare, load, snacks and school costs. Sort them into needs and wants for the smart-consumer lesson, follow one price for a month to see inflation, and read the tax on a receipt before the lesson on taxes and public spending. Saving and investing then rest on figures the student already knows.

Does AP tutoring help with the UPCAT?

In two ways. UP builds its admission score from the UPCAT together with the composite of final grades in Grades 8, 9, 10 and 11, so AP grades in those years count toward a UP application. The exam also measures reading comprehension in Filipino, and every AP lesson is close reading of Filipino texts on history, economics and society.
