Science, taught on screen

Online science tutor jobs Philippines with the lab on your screen

Online science tutor jobs Philippines: part-time Eduline work run entirely on video calls, open to applicants living in the Philippines or another network country such as Singapore, the UAE or Qatar. MATATAG makes Science a stand-alone subject from Grade 3, and those learners are the core of this work. There is no fee to apply.

Teaching science through a screen, one learner at a time

Each session is a one-to-one video call where the lab lives on your shared screen. A Grade 6 learner rolling a ball down a slope in a simulation watches the speed change as you raise the angle, and you ask for a prediction before the ball moves. PhET, a free project of the University of Colorado Boulder, covers physics, chemistry, biology and earth science, so a single browser tab holds most of what a school bench would.

Many of the learners you meet have never stood at a laboratory bench, because a large share of Philippine schools teach science with no laboratory of their own. For them a simulation is often the first time a process visibly moves, and Filipino teachers have already shown it can carry real learning: a study of General Physics 1 classes found PhET-integrated lessons lifted the competencies students had mastered least. Your job is to make each simulation behave like an experiment, with a question, a variable to change, a reading to record and a conclusion the learner writes.

The MATATAG science guide asks Grades 7 to 10 to design investigations around real problems and to judge whether the evidence supports a conclusion, and a call suits that well. You share a simulation, the learner takes over the controls, logs readings in a shared sheet or on paper held up to the camera, and the two of you test the claim together. Some sessions move to the kitchen, where vinegar and baking soda give a reaction the learner runs on camera while you explain the bubbles.

Written work travels both ways on the call. The worksheet reaches the learner before class, the learner answers in a notebook, then holds the page up to the camera or sends a photo, and you mark the labelled diagram right on that image while the learner watches. From Grade 4, science answers are written and labelled in English, so a clear drawing of a cell, a circuit or a food web carries as much weight as the spoken explanation.

Open flames, heated glassware, strong chemicals and dissection belong in a school laboratory under a teacher. On a home call those experiments run as simulations or as a walk-through on a shared diagram, and the hands-on part stays with tasks a learner does safely at a table: timing a rolling ball, sorting leaves by shape, testing which objects float in a basin.

Older learners book online science too. Senior high students taking General Science, which the Strengthened SHS lists among its five core subjects, want steady weekly help. Applicants for Philippine Science High School and the UPCAT drill science items before their exam dates, and nursing graduates reviewing for the licensure exam ask for anatomy, pharmacology and microbiology on an evening call after work.

Your virtual bench, domain by domain

Each domain has a free tool or a safe stand-in for the equipment a school laboratory would hold.

  • PhET physics simulations

Take the place of the ramp, cart, spring and stopwatch in force, motion and energy lessons; the learner moves a slider and reruns the trial.

  • PhET chemistry simulations with the kitchen

Particles and states of matter move on screen, while vinegar, baking soda and water at the learner's table supply a reaction they can touch.

  • Annotated diagrams for living things

A shared image of a cell, an organ system or a food web stands in for the microscope slide and the dissection tray, labelled live with the learner.

  • Offline PhET downloads

The HTML5 simulations download for offline use, so a lesson survives a weak line. Older ones built in Java or Flash fail in a current browser, so open each before class.

Science strands an online tutor covers

These parts of the subject gain the most from a shared screen, a simulation the learner can control and a camera pointed at a kitchen table.

  • Force, motion and energy

Sliders for mass, angle and friction let a learner rerun a trial in seconds, something a school with no equipment cannot offer.

  • Science of materials

Chemistry simulations on screen, plus safe household reactions on camera, cover states of matter, mixtures, and acids and bases.

  • Life science

Diagrams and biology simulations shared on screen while the learner labels, sorts and explains what each part of a living system does.

  • Earth and space science

Orbit, weather and landform models move on a screen in ways a printed page cannot, and the learner replays them as often as needed.

  • Pisay and UPCAT science

Timed item sets for the PSHS National Competitive Examination and the UPCAT Science subtest, checked together right after each set.

  • Nursing board sciences

Anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, microbiology and pharmacology for graduates preparing for the Philippine Nurse Licensure Examination, scheduled around their shifts.

What you need to apply

The list covers what you know, the setup at your desk and the papers every tutor provides.

  • Grade 3 to Grade 9 science across all four MATATAG domains, Grade 10 science on the MELC-based guide, and senior high General Science, explained with confidence.
  • A laptop or desktop that runs browser-based simulations smoothly, with a working webcam and a headset with microphone.
  • Internet that keeps a full video session running; downloading simulations for offline use helps on weaker lines.
  • Ease with sharing your screen, handing a simulation to a learner and keeping a digital whiteboard tidy.
  • Patience with learners who have never handled lab equipment and need each step of an experiment explained.
  • A degree in biology, chemistry, physics, engineering, health sciences or education, shown by TOR or diploma, with a valid government ID; the PRC license stays optional.
  • NBI clearance before your first science learner, for every applicant living in the Philippines.
  • A quiet, well-lit place to teach from, at home in the Philippines or in any other country of the online network.

Your rate, set per science placement

Every online science offer names its own hourly rate, worked out from the strand, the learner's level and the video-call format. A weekly Grade 5 life science placement, a run of Pisay review sets and an evening of board-exam pharmacology are priced as separate pieces of work, and you see the figure in the offer, beside the level and the schedule, before you accept.

While you apply, ask the team what online science pays at each level you name, from primary life science through Senior High General Science to nursing board review. That answer helps you decide which strands to list first, and your first session begins the day you accept an offer.

Four steps to your first online class

  1. 1

Tell us your sciences and hours

Name the sciences you teach, the grade levels or exams you cover, the country you are based in, and which Philippine-time slots are open for science calls each week.

  2. 2

    Send your papers

Government ID, diploma or TOR, PRC license where you have one, and NBI clearance if you live in the Philippines, ahead of your first online science learner.

  3. 3

Walk us through a screen lesson

A video or phone chat about the sciences you know best, and how you run a lesson on a shared screen.

  4. 4

    Accept your first science placement

A person on the team pairs you with a learner whose science fits your strengths, then sends an offer naming the subject, level, schedule and hourly rate for you to review. Should the pairing ever need to change, the learner gets a new tutor free whenever they ask, and you may ask for a re-match on your side as well.

What online science applicants ask us

Do I need lab equipment at home to tutor science online?

A computer, a camera and a steady connection are enough. Free PhET simulations run in a browser across physics, chemistry, biology and earth science, and they also download to work without a connection. Safe kitchen items such as vinegar and baking soda cover the hands-on moments, which the learner runs on their side of the call.

Can I apply for online science work from outside the Philippines?

Yes. The online lane accepts applicants who live in the Philippines, Qatar, the United Arab Emirates, Egypt, Kenya, India, Thailand, Malaysia or Singapore, and NBI clearance applies to those living in the Philippines. Some of your science learners live abroad too. Filipino learners in Philippine Schools Overseas study the same DepEd science, so a labelled cell or a force diagram reads the same in Doha as in Davao, and DepEd reported that the Philippine Schools Overseas in the Middle East moved classes online from March 2026, which means many of those learners already know a school day on screen. Their homework hours fall in the Philippine evening, since the Gulf runs four to five hours behind Manila.

Which grade levels and exams will I teach online?

Grades 3 to 9 follow the MATATAG science guide, which revisits four domains each year at a higher level, and its rollout reaches Grades 3, 6 and 9 in SY 2026-2027, and Grade 10 keeps its MELC-based science one more year, until SY 2027-2028. Senior high learners take General Science in the Strengthened SHS, fully implemented this school year. Exam learners prepare for the PSHS National Competitive Examination and the UPCAT.

When do entrance exam learners start online science review?

Pisay applicants for SY 2027-2028 apply from 6 April to 7 November 2026 and take the exam on Saturday, 30 January 2027, so their review runs through the last months of the year. The UPCAT for AY 2027-2028 was held on 1 and 2 August 2026, with Science as one of its four subtests.

Can I review nursing graduates for the board exam online?

Yes. Nursing graduates book evening calls between hospital shifts to rebuild anatomy and physiology, pathophysiology, parasitology and microbiology, pharmacology, and nutrition and diet therapy. The licensure exam spans five Nursing Practice subjects of 100 items each over two days, so a session usually takes one body system at a time, with a shared diagram you both mark.

I trained under another country's syllabus. Can I still tutor Philippine science online?

Yes, once you know how the DepEd program is built. MATATAG teaches science as a spiral: the same four domains return each year at a higher level, from Grade 3 to Grade 9 this year. Grade 10 follows the MELC-based guide, and every Grade 11 learner takes General Science as a core subject of the Strengthened SHS, where STEM is now an elective cluster. Read the learner's own module before the first call and teach in its terms.

What if a learner has no printer for worksheets?

The worksheet arrives on the learner's phone or computer before class, and the learner copies the questions into a notebook or answers on screen. Drawn diagrams come back to you as a photo, you mark them on the shared image, and the corrected copy stays in the notebook for the next term assessment.

How do I keep a Grade 3 or Grade 4 learner focused for a full hour on screen?

Change the activity often and hand over the controls. One hour can move from a prediction, to a simulation the learner runs, to a short kitchen task on camera, to a labelled drawing held up to the lens. Online sessions run 60 to 90 minutes, and the younger the learner, the more often the mouse belongs to them.
