Tutor Jobs in Makati: Teach One Learner at a Time, at Home or Online
Tutor jobs in Makati with Eduline are part-time and open all year, for tutors who can reach homes across the city's 23 barangays, from Poblacion condominiums to the gated villages, and who can also teach online. You apply for free, we check your documents, and every placement arrives with its subject, schedule and hourly rate stated before you accept it.
What the work looks like in this city
A placement is one learner and one tutor. You sit with the learner at their dining table or desk, or meet them on a video call, and work on exactly what was booked: Grade 4 fractions, a Senior High General Mathematics unit, reading for a Kinder learner who is not yet decoding, conversational Filipino for an adult newly posted to the CBD.
Makati is smaller than it used to be. Since the Supreme Court ruling became final in April 2023, the Embo barangays and Fort Bonifacio belong to Taguig, so a Makati placement means one of the 23 barangays that remain, and a tutor living in Pembo or Cembo applies for Makati work like anyone else in Metro Manila.
Getting around is the part tutors underestimate. The MRT-3 stops at Guadalupe, Buendia, Ayala and Magallanes, and since March 2025 its weekday trains run about an hour later at night. The EDSA Carousel stops at Guadalupe, Buendia and One Ayala and runs through the night; most of its buses take cash only, so keep small bills ready. No subway runs yet: the stalled project returned to full city ownership in January 2026. Tell us where you start from and which hours you can really make, and we only offer placements that fit.
On weekdays a P2P bus links Circuit Makati with One Ayala on a beep card, its last trip leaving One Ayala at 6:00 p.m., so evening sessions lean on the rail line or a jeepney. Jeepneys bound for Poblacion leave from Guadalupe Market and Bernardino Street.
Evenings belong to working adults. Makati counted 309,770 residents in 2024, while estimates of its daytime population run from 3.2 to 4.2 million. Many of those workers book a session after office hours near Ayala Avenue, at home, or online, and some study at the Ateneo Professional Schools on Rockwell Drive, the Asian Institute of Management or Mapúa's Makati campus.
The rains change the commute from June: PAGASA declared the rainy season on 4 June 2026. Older MMDA lists name Osmeña Highway, the Magallanes Interchange and stretches of Chino Roces as flood-prone. When the road to a learner floods, message the learner and us early, and the session can run online.
Learners here are on very different curricula. Kinder to Grade 9 follow DepEd's MATATAG subjects, Grade 10 stays on the older curriculum this year, and Grade 11 is in the first full year of the Strengthened Senior High curriculum, with Academic and TechPro tracks in place of the old strands. The school year runs in three terms. Others attend IB schools such as Colegio San Agustin, Assumption College San Lorenzo and The Beacon School, or a Chinese-curriculum school such as Makati Hope. A tutor who knows one of those well is exactly who we want to hear from.
The city no longer has a science high school of its own: Makati Science High School in Cembo has been run by the Taguig City and Pateros division since 1 January 2024. Makati's public answer is the Science, Technology and Engineering program, entered through a Grade 7 admission test at Makati High School and General Pio del Pilar National High School, both in Poblacion. The city-run University of Makati has its campus in West Rembo, now Taguig.
Where placements are
Home visits happen across Makati's barangays. A few things are worth knowing before your first one.
- Poblacion, Guadalupe Viejo and Guadalupe Nuevo
Condominium towers and older streets near the Guadalupe station. Many towers ask a guest to log in at the lobby with a photo ID, so carry one on every visit.
- Bel-Air Village
Non-residents are identified with advance notice from the resident, so the household you visit tells the gate you are coming. Gates 1 and 2 open around the clock; Gates 5, 7 and 8 admit pedestrians only with a village ID.
- Dasmariñas Village and Forbes Park
A visitor without a village ID enters once the host-resident confirms the visit with security, and surrenders a valid ID, such as a license, in exchange for a visitor's pass. Six gates ring the village, Palm Avenue, Amorsolo and Pasay Road among them.
- San Lorenzo and Urdaneta
Gated villages beside the Ayala Avenue towers, with Assumption College San Lorenzo on San Lorenzo Drive.
- Salcedo, Legaspi and the Ayala Avenue towers
Adult learners often book a meeting room at work. RCBC Plaza, for one, asks a visitor to deposit a photo ID for a visitor's card, and accepts an NBI clearance.
- Magallanes, San Isidro and Bangkal
Close to the Magallanes station, with Makati Hope and Asia Pacific College nearby.
- Pio del Pilar, La Paz, Olympia, Tejeros and neighboring barangays
Residential streets along and west of Chino Roces Avenue, where a tricycle often finishes the trip from the main road.
Subjects Makati learners ask about
You teach what you know at the levels you know. These are the subjects Makati learners book most, shaped by the city's public STE classes, its Catholic, IB and Chinese-curriculum schools, and its working adults.
- Grade 6 math and science for STE admission tests
Makati High School and General Pio del Pilar National High School both test incoming Grade 7 learners for their Science, Technology and Engineering program.
- IB subjects
Diploma subjects at Colegio San Agustin and Assumption College San Lorenzo; PYP and MYP at The Beacon School.
- Mandarin and Chinese-curriculum support
For learners at Makati Hope, which teaches a Chinese curriculum from Nursery to Grade 12 beside the DepEd subjects.
- Senior High core subjects
General Mathematics, General Science and Effective Communication under the Strengthened SHS.
- Grade 12 strand subjects
This year's Grade 12 finishes on the old strands, so STEM and ABM subjects such as General Physics and Business Math are still booked.
- Senior High pathway subjects
Asia Pacific College runs six Strengthened SHS pathways, AI Solutions Development and Business Analytics among them.
- Reading and early numeracy
Kinder to Grade 3, where a parent registers the child and wants a patient adult at home.
- College entrance review
UPCAT, ACET, USTET and DCAT, by subtest area, for tutors who have taken or taught them.
What we ask for
Everything below is checked by a person before you are placed with any learner.
- Solid knowledge of the subject at the level you apply for
- A valid Philippine government-issued ID
- Your diploma or transcript of records
- An NBI clearance before your first placement
- A PRC license if you are a licensed teacher (welcome, never required)
- A second photo ID you can leave at a village gate or tower lobby in exchange for a pass
- The ability to reach Makati homes at the hours you offer, or a quiet place and a steady connection for online sessions
How pay works
There is no fee to apply and no fee to join. When we have a learner for you, the offer names the subject, the level, the schedule and the hourly rate, and you decide with all of it in front of you. You are never asked to start first and settle the rate later.
Pay for a Makati placement is set per placement and written into the offer, so you see the hourly figure for that learner before you accept. Here is how it is paid: Eduline pays you for each session you teach and log, and the learner settles every invoice with Eduline, so you never collect lesson money yourself. Arranging lessons privately with a learner we introduced removes the protections on both sides, including the re-match you can ask for at any time.
How to apply
- 1
Tell us your subjects and your Makati hours
Your subjects, the levels you teach, where in Metro Manila you start from and the hours you are free. It takes a few minutes.
- 2
Hand in your ID and school papers for a person to check
ID, diploma or transcript, and your PRC license if you have one. The NBI clearance can follow before your first placement.
- 3
A short call about travel
A conversation about what you want to teach and which villages, towers and stations you can realistically reach inside Makati.
- 4
See the learner and the rate, then decide
You see the learner, the schedule and the rate first. Saying no to a placement costs you nothing.
Questions tutors ask about Makati placements
My session in Bel-Air ends at 9:30 p.m. Which gate do I leave by?
Gates 1 and 2 are open all night, and Gates 3 and 4 let pedestrians through until 11:00 p.m.
Which Dasmariñas gate should I walk in through?
The one your learner's household names when it calls security ahead of you. The Mahogany gate serves Dasmariñas and Forbes Park residents only, and the pedestrian gates hold to a No ID, No Entry/Exit rule, so have your ID out as you arrive. Guards may also check bags, so pack light on the way in.
I live in Bangkal. How do I reach Salcedo Village by 5 p.m.?
Ride the MRT-3 from Magallanes to Ayala, or take the EDSA Carousel to One Ayala, then walk. Leave early in the rainy months.
Can I teach an adult learner in an office meeting room?
Yes. Expect the tower's own visitor process: the learner acknowledges you, and you deposit a photo ID at reception.
Can a session happen in a condo function room?
Yes, when the learner reserves it with the building. You still pass the lobby, so carry a photo ID and arrive a few minutes early.
Can I take the Pasig River Ferry to a session near Guadalupe?
For a daytime session, it can work. Makati has two ferry stations: Guadalupe on J.P. Rizal Extension, a five to eight minute walk from the MRT-3 Guadalupe station, and Valenzuela on A. Bonifacio Street. A February 2025 guide to the service listed boats Monday to Saturday, with the last trip out of Guadalupe at 4:30 p.m.; check the MMDA's current schedule before you rely on it, and plan the ride home after an evening class on the train or the Carousel.
Do I need to know IB or the Chinese curriculum to apply?
Only for those placements. Most requests follow the DepEd curriculum. If you have taught IB or Mandarin, say so on the form so those requests can reach you.
Can I teach only online?
Yes. Apply from the tutor jobs hub at /en/tutor, say on the form that you want online work only, and name the subjects you teach on a video call, such as English, Mathematics, Science or Coding. Online roles also take applicants from the other countries in our online network, and every offer you receive is an online placement.
